investigating issues with its Outlook email service after North American users
encountered problems accessing, sending, or searching for email on the
platform.
More than 2,000 people have reported problems with Outlook
since about 11:00 pm Monday 10 am ET, according to Downdetector.com, which
tracks outages by compiling status reports from sources including user-submitted
bugs on its platform.
According to the internet monitoring company, reports dropped
to 351 cases where complaints were registered before 2:00 p.m. 10 ET.
"Users primarily hosted in the North America region, trying to access Outlook.com, may be unable to send, receive, or retrieve email. This also affects other services such as calendars used by other services such as Microsoft Teams," Microsoft said in a statement. Update on the status page.
A "recent change" caused the problem, and the
company is working to restart some of the affected infrastructure to restore
service, Microsoft said in a tweet.
